AMC Search has completed its first Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) training course in Western Australia thanks to a new partnership with the Fremantle Maritime Simulation Centre (FMSC).

The first cohort of students successfully completed the 10-day IALA-approved VTS Operator course delivered by AMC Search tutor Jillian Carson-Jackson in Fremantle in July.

Rory Main, Simulations Manager at FMSC, explained that the new partnership combines VTS training expertise with high-quality simulation facilities to deliver the world-class training.

“We knew there was demand for VTS training in Western Australia and partnering with AMC Search was the ideal way to get a course up and running.

“The VTS Operator course offers AMC Search’s teaching expertise along with our simulation facilities, which include an electronic chart plotter developed in-house specifically for the course.

“The result was a successful first course, as demonstrated by the very positive feedback received from participants.”

Emilie Donovan, Manager – Training at AMC Search, said the collaboration helped AMC Search meet demand for VTS training across Australia.

“As Australia’s only provider of scheduled VTS courses, we are pleased to be able to meet demand for VTS training in WA.

“Thanks to our agreement with FMSC, Fremantle is now the second location that AMC Search can provide VTS training, along with Sydney, NSW."

As Australia’s only provider of scheduled VTS courses, we are pleased to partner with the Freemantle Maritime Simulation Centre to meet demand for VTS training in Western Australia.
